[ this month has not been kind for any of them, but after seeing the darkness take aqua, and then what happened with riku, kairi isn't feeling too great. she had been able to help aqua and that is something she is incredibly grateful for. all the same, she has had to fight to keep her warmth and she knows she isn't as optimistic as she usually is.

it's hard for her to keep herself buoyant just for herself; having others to uplift helps. so when she makes her way downstairs one morning to find usagi, she knows her light is needed again. ]

Usagi? [ she calls hesitantly, making her way closer. rosalie, her little frootz cat dream eater, jumps into her arms, sensing that all is not quite well. ] Are you okay?

[While Usagi has been snapped out of her anger, the fog is still pervasive and it still had some effects on her. Not as bad as it was earlier in the month but a new sort of mood had overtaken her. She looked up from where she was sitting in the windowsill, just gazing out of it a bit mournfully with Orion's head in her lap as he whined every now and then, trying to make her feel better.

At the calling of her name, she slowly turns her head towards Kairi and gives a small nod.]

Yeah, I'm fine, Kairi-chan. [She was aware that... something happened to Sora, Kairi, and everyone again because it was rather obvious. She just didn't know what it was, and at the moment, she didn't care enough to ask.]

[ one of the things kairi and usagi had talked about when kairi first arrived on this world was ways in which kairi could use her light to help. while kairi is hardly unaffected by the fog permeating the air, she hasn't been hit as badly as so many others.

the way usagi looks right now doesn't give her much hope. but kairi moves closer to the window in the hope that some of her light might rub off on the woman who has been so good to her. ]

Are you sure? I think everyone's been affected by whatever is in the air. A lot of people I know just... aren't quite themselves.

[She's not snappish enough anymore to insist she's fine when she so clearly isn't. She merely sighs and leans back against the sill. The light from Kairi is... comforting.]

It's the fog, that Gem thing wanted to make us different. She succeeded. You seem fine, though. Is that what you're worried about, I don't notice a difference in you.

[ kairi gives her head a gentle little shake. ]

I can feel its effects. A little. But that isn't why I'm here.

[ she's more concerned about usagi right now. ]

I wanted to see how you're doing. A lot of things have been happening recently, with whatever is in the fog changing everyone's behavior.

Oh... am I being weird again?

[She sighed and bowed her head.]

What's wrong with me, then? Something is always wrong with me, I guess.

No. [ kairi gives her head a little shake. ] You're just not as peppy as you usually are. I wanted to be sure you were okay.

[ kairi reaches over to rest her hand briefly on usagi's arm, her soft smile one of encouragement. ]

Whatever the effects are, I'm sure they will wear off in time.

The complaint of the month, it seems. [Everyone has been commenting about how different she's been.

She rests a hand atop Kairi's, not wanting to be left out, Orion rested his head atop both hands.]

I'm a bit dangerous when I'm anything other than myself, Kairi-chan.

Everyone has their off days. I just wanted to be sure it wasn't something worse.

[ she does take advantage of the contact, trying to let her warmth shine through it. maybe a little dunamis magic can help, if she can get it to work. ]

Well, that's more reason for me to keep you company. Maybe we could take a short walk around the house.

I've been told this is probably the fog. I'm not... I'm usually able to throw off something like this but I guess not this time.

[She took Kairi's hand and gave it a squeeze, her light trying to reach out to Kairi's but it wasn't as bright as it usually was.]

A short walk would be nice, thanks, Kairi-chan.

There's something in this fog, a special kind of darkness that's turning everyone's emotions opposite.

[ she can feel it, too, but for whatever reason she hasn't been affected as much as everyone else. wrapping her fingers around usagi's hand, kairi moves away from the window, waiting for usagi to get up. ]

We could take a walk around the house and see if that helps.

[Usagi hates that she's affected, she's supposed to be stronger than this.]

Yeah... maybe a walk will. [She doubts it, but maybe. She lightly nudges Orion's head off her lap and stands up.] Maybe my light is dimming, and that's why I'm affected.

I don't think it's a permanent thing. [ she hopes it's not. ] But maybe taking a walk will give you something else to focus on.

[ she keeps a hold on usagi's hand... at least until rosalie decides she's going to leap up into kairi's arms. kairi smiles. ]

Here. Wanna hold Rosalie? She's good at cheering people up.

It's never permanent. This place may as well be-

[Usagi didn't finish the thought when Rosalie jumped into Kairi's arms and then was offered to hold her. She nodded and gently took Rosalie into her arms, hiding her face in her fur.]

[ rosalie responds with a gentle but very musical humming sound, the dream eater equivalent of a purr, kairi guesses. she smiles as she watches them. ]

You're welcome to hug her for as long as you want. She seems to like all the attention.

It makes me miss my Luna, she's my cat back home, the smartest cat in the whole wide world. She's so sweet, Sora even made me a plush of her to keep in my room. Might need him to get me another one.

[ kairi's smile turns a little sad at that. she can't do anything about bringing usagi her luna, but at least rosalie can provide something of a support pillar. she pauses for a moment before she steps closer and loosely wraps her arms around both usagi and the dream eater, holding them closely enough that usagi will hopefully get some form of physical and emotional comfort from her without it being suffocating. ]

Well, anytime you want to say hi to Rosalie and hold her, I'll be happy to bring her. You know where we live, after all.

[She hugs Kairi in return, hugging her with the arm not holding Rosalie. She closes her eyes, leaning just a little onto Kairi but hugging her as tightly as she can. The joke gets the corner of her mouth to lift as she presses a kiss to Kairi's forehead.]

Mnn, hear the place you're stayin' is a dump, though. Maybe you should come and stay with me, Kairi-chan.

[ kairi laughs softly at that. ]

Uh-oh. Don't let my landlady hear you say that. She's been nothing but good to me.

[ she really does mean that. usagi has been a gracious host and a wonderful friend. helping cheer her up like this is really the least she can do. ]

You sure? I mean, yeah she's pretty, but I hear she's got a serious savior complex.

Nobody ever asks her to help and she just jumps right in.

But that's the best part about her.

[ kairi leans in, gently resting her head against usagi's for a minute. ]

I wouldn't change that for anything in any world.

[She moved and adjusted so she could hug Kairi, closing her eyes.]

Well, I guess if you like her there's nothing to do about it.

She's pretty crazy about you too, I hear.

We're stuck with each other, [ kairi says softly, ] and I wouldn't change a thing.
