Look at it this way, let's say you were having your favorite dinner after a long and tiring day, and someone came along, snatched the plate from you and slammed your plate and food onto the floor, smashing the plate, and threw your glass against the wall, destroying it and letting glass shards be everywhere. But then they said, "don't worry, I'm going to make it better now." Would you believe them? Would you want to eat anything they made you? Or trust them to clean up every glass shard they caused?

You make things better by offering help, to improve things where you can. The New Republic is what you just said, it's new, so it needs help! Support good ideas! Help find funding for things that would improve society as a whole! Just because something is new doesn't mean it's not a good idea. It just needs to figure itself out and that takes time and patience and willingness to trust. If the Senators are arguing, figure out what they're arguing about and try to find the best solution, sometimes people need outside opinions. But you don't go destroying things. That's like getting a new puppy with some fleas and going "oh that's no good," and killing the dog instead to get rid of those fleas. That's how extreme destroying a planet is.
