authorofanomalies: (I broke my brother)

[Wow, he really should have done this earlier. For his first few days back, he'd been caught between getting himself back on his feet again, and wondering whether he was doing enough as an uncle. This was all basically new territory for him.]

Usagi? This is Stanford Pines speaking. Listen, I-Uh... I wanted to thank you for taking care of Mabel. If you all ever need anything for her, please just let me know.

I'm fine. You don't have to worry about me.

[He couldn't keep the laughter from his voice. Usagi had always been kind to him. He should have expected concern from her. The fact that she brought Mabel in without knowing who she was just improved Ford's opinion of her. He quickly moved the subject back to his niece.]

She is, isn't she? Actually, she said that she wants to stay with you. I told you she would like you! I figured, if that's what makes her happy... As long as you're alright with it, of course?

[That was a nice sentiment, and an interesting thought. Did he think of Usagi as his friend? A surprised part of him realized that, she was pretty close to it. Anyone who took care of his family was alright in his view, and she kept going out of her way to show him kindness. He didn't realize it would be this easy. Maybe it was because Bill was gone, and he didn't have to constantly question whether she was a figment of his twisted traps.]

She really does. [He didn't doubt that was the case... Though he may be worried that it was also because she didn't trust him. He didn't know what he was going to do if that is true.] I appreciate the offer... Do you know all of these people? Or did you meet them here, like Mabel?

[He'd ask about the business in a second, but he had to make sure at least someone knew everyone Mabel was living with could be trusted.]
